Maegen Loring and her husband operate this excellent restaurant in San Luis. It is situated just across from the railroad station.
You may dine in or on their very pleasant patio. The wine selection includes many local wines. Having sampled the restaurants of San Luis for many years on our visits, including Cafe Roma only steps away from the Park, Koberyl at Blue on Monterey, Novo, and many others, The Park has to remain at the top.
Maegen's husband does the preparation. Maegen runs the restaurant.
It is no suprise that Maegen provides meals prepared for the Hearst family at the Hearst Castle, as well as other local gentry. Her food is just that good. She caters the lunches at Beads on the Vine at Edna Valley when my wife attends that beadwork retreat every year.
Novel dishes, very well prepared, from locally grown products, with excellent service characterize this restaurant.
While we enjoy a full bar, The Park doesn't offer one. But this omission is greatly outweighed by the quality of the food, the wine selection, ambiance and service. The prices are competitive.
Closed Mondays, open for supper only, 5:30 to 9 Tuesdays through Thursdays and until 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, 8 pm on Sundays, a reservation is usually good, but not always necessary.
We live in Ohio and journey to San Luis once per year, as a rule, but this restaurant is always at least one stop for us.
We recommend it highly, as number one in San Luis.
