Jocko's, 125 N Thompson Ave, Nipomo, California, United States
Jocko's... where do I begin? When you first walk in, there will undoubtedly be several people standing and waiting in the bar area. That is because the steaks are well worth the wait! Jocko's is not your fancy schmancy floofy restauarant, and is best shared with a big group of people. There will be plenty of food, just be sure to save room for the huge steaks. I think they are cooked in an oak pit, and the flavor is amazing and juicy. You get ice cream too. My family drives 40 minutes there and back for birthday dinners and I look forward to it every time! Jocko's is fun!

Yamato's, 1741 W Grand Ave, Grover Beach, California, United States
Yamato is probably the best sushi in the SLO county area! I've only been once, but the quality and selection of sushi is better than other places around here and I love the atmosphere and smaller feel of the place. If you order some nice sake they will serve it in a beautiful blown glass decanter, which made our typical sushi date more special. Terrific!!

Far Western Tavern, 899 Guadalupe St. , HWY 1, San Luis Obispo, California, United States
This steak house is by farther better than Jockos. The restaurant has history and beauty. The food is impeccable and the service is desirable. I had the Bullseye steak with polenta, topped with a pinot reduction sauce, true heaven. And for dessert... creme brulee, YUM. The drive is coastal than country, you keep going and enter a workers town. FUN. Oh yes, the bar is a true wooden classic, a must see!

Venteux Vineyards and B & B, 1795 Las Tablas Rd, Templeton, California, United States
Venteux is a great, modern B & B in the heart of Paso Robles wine country. In addition to providing incredibly friendly service and deluxe accommodations, the tasting room is just steps away! We stayed in the Red Barn which gave us the freedom to keep our own schedule and make our own meals in the fully stocked kitchen. However, the green and blue rooms in the main house are beautiful and breakfast and/or cocktail hour on the porch is incredibly quaint and sociable.
Even if you don't stay at the B & B, be sure to stop by the Venteux tasting room to appreciate the wine and visit Clover, my favorite vineyard canine!

Yamato's, 1741 W Grand Ave, Grover Beach, California, United States
Every time I go to the SLO area, I make it a point to go to Yamato's in Grover Beach. The atmosphere is nice and the owners/staff make you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. In my opinion, they make the best sushi and sushimi in SLO county. My favorite roll is the Grover Beach roll. It's located on the main drag, so it's not difficult to find.
